    This privacy statement describes the privacy practices of MediaTek and its subsidiaries (collectively, "MediaTek" "we," "our", "us" or the "Company") regarding our collection, use, disclosure and retention of your personal information through our events, premises, websites, products, services, tools, software, or applications on which we post a direct link to this privacy statement or which is referred to within this privacy statement (collectively, the ¡°MediaTek Services¡±). For instance, when you:

    • Explore our websites;
    • Conduct business dealings with us;
    • Purchase or use our products, software, applications or services;
    • Contact customer support;
    • Participate in our marketing events, campaigns or conferences;
    • Subscribe to our newsletter or participate in our online communities;
    • Apply for a job.

    This privacy statement covers only your personal information collected through the MediaTek Services and not any other method of data collection, use and disclosure, including, without limitation, data collection practices of other services that maintain their own, separate privacy policies. We encourage you to read this privacy statement carefully.

    We collect different types of information, including both personal and nonpersonal information. ¡°Personal information¡± means any information that directly or indirectly identifies you or is reasonably capable of being associated with you or, in certain jurisdictions, your household. It may include your name, job title, postal or physical address, telephone or fax number, e-mail address, social media handles, and other information you have provided or is required to carry out a transaction, provide a service or deliver a product (collectively, the ¡°Personal Identifiers¡±).

    Depending on where you live, personal information may also include your real-time location, your device¡¯s Internet Protocol (IP) address or unique device identifier (UDI). We may collect and store information you or others provide in community discussions, chats, and correspondence received through the MediaTek Services or sent to us directly.

    Portions of our MediaTek Services may only be accessible if you register. When you register, we may ask you to provide username, password and other information. We may retain this information to remember you when you log in. This information may be linked to other information that we collect while you are on the MediaTek Services.

    The collection and use of your personal information may be necessary for us to provide you with a product or service, communicate with you, or maintain our business relationship with you. In addition to Personal Identifiers, we may collect payment information such as bank account or credit card information that normally would be collected and processed to facilitate payments to us or our vendors or suppliers. We may also collect business and commercial information, such as business contact, the companies you represent, records of the products or services you have downloaded, purchased or used, your reviews or feedback, as well as other activity history related to our products or services. Please note that if you choose not to provide us with such information, we may not be able to provide you with such, in part or at all.

    We also collect other non-personal types of data, including device information such as the type of browser or operating system used and software usage statistics. We use this data, and may compile and analyze the data, in order to improve products and services and to personalize your experience with us. Examples of non-personal information include hardware configuration, computer or device characteristics and connection information such as browser type, version and time zone setting, operating system, and platform; the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through and from our websites including date and time, cookie number.

    Prospective employees may submit information to apply for employment with us, which may be operated by an authorized vendor. Information collected through such online service may include name, address, telephone and fax numbers, email address, education history, military service, immigration status and employment history or other information. Information provided through this process is subject to the privacy policy of the authorized vendor(s), which you should review before providing information.

    We use tracking technologies such as cookies (small files placed on your hard drive), web beacons, website analytics tools, and the personal information you provide us to personalize your online experience and improve our services. We may collect metadata such as the timing and length of your interactions with us, as well as details about the products or services you browsed or the videos you watched on our website platforms. Some information about your use of the MediaTek Services may be collected using tracking technologies across time and services, and used by us and third parties for purposes, such as to associate different devices you use, and deliver relevant ads and/or other content to you on the MediaTek Services.

    Please see our Cookie Statement for additional information, including certain choices you may have regarding some of these activities. By accessing MediaTek Services, you consent to the placement of cookies and our and third-party use of track technologies subject to our Cookie Statement.

    Some web browsers may have settings for ¡°Do Not Track¡± signals. Browsers may have this signal on or off by default, and there is no standard as to how websites should respond. We do not currently monitor or take action regarding these signals. We encourage you to look at opt-out methods described in our  or as otherwise available from applicable third parties.

    You agree that we may use your personal information for our commercial purposes including for instance:

    • To execute a contract with you and engage in a business dealings with you;
    • To deliver a product or provide a service to you or provide you with technical and customer support;
    • To customize, measure, deliver and improve our products, services, content and advertising;
    • To recognize you when you log in and authorize your instructions after you have logged in;
    • To communicate with you through emails, text messages or phone calls about our products and services, targeted marketing materials, service updates, and promotional offers;
    • To personalize your overall experience with us;
    • To find individuals or companies that may be interested in our products or services;
    • To allow your participation in activities, such as online discussion groups or chats, communities and surveys;
    • To administer promotions that you enter such as a contest or sweepstakes;
    • To consider you for employment if you submit a job application;
    • To transfer information to our authorized third parties;
    • To prevent illegal activities and comply with legal obligations; and
    • Other uses as indicated with the information that is collected.

    Your personal information will be processed strictly in accordance with applicable laws. Subject to the law in your jurisdiction, the processing of your personal information will be based on one of the following lawful bases:

    • To perform our responsibilities under our contract with you;
    • When we have a legitimate interest in providing and improving the MediaTek Services, conducting market research and/or finding potential customers;
    • When we have your consent to do so. You may withdraw such consent at any time, except in cases where the law requires us to retain your personal information;
    • To comply with our legal obligations;
    • To protect your vital interests or of another natural person. For example, in situations, where you or someone else are in danger or risk of harm; or
    • Any other lawful bases stipulated in the law in your jurisdiction.

    We may disclose personal information with our authorized third parties (such as our service providers, business customers, distributors, research and development partners, contractors, processors, and other authorized vendors) who help with our business operations, including the storage and processing of personal information for the uses listed in this privacy statement. We may also disclose personal information with our lawyers and other professional advisors where necessary to obtain advice or otherwise protect and manage our business interests.

    Except under the circumstances described above, MediaTek will not share or disclose personal information to any third party for promotional purposes without your permission. In no event will MediaTek sell, rent, share, trade or disclose personal information to any third party without your permission.

    We may disclose your personal information to comply with applicable laws, legal processes, government or quasi-governmental requests, to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We may disclose personal information and other information available to us when we believe, in our sole discretion, disclosure is necessary or appropriate in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to us or the rights, property or physical safety of any person, violations of our terms of use or other agreements, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

    If MediaTek were to undergo a re-organization, merger, sale of all or a part of our assets, division, dissolution, declaration of bankruptcy, we may transfer personal and non-personal information as part of the process. In addition, we may disclose your personal information between and among MediaTek and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

    Please remember that any information you choose to disclose in public areas of the MediaTek Services (such as within community forums through a chat feature or published in a product review) may become public information. You should exercise caution when disclosing information in such public areas and refrain from disclosing personal information.

    As permitted by applicable law, we may disclose and share non-personal information without restriction. For instance, we may share aggregated and non-personally identifiable information with our commercial customers, business partners or vendors for the purposes of improving their products or services. 

    The MediaTek Services are not directed to minors and are intended for a general audience comprised of adults. If you are a minor in your country of residence, you may use MediaTek Services only with the involvement of your parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete the information to the extent required by applicable law.

    Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and/or processed in Taiwan and/or other countries with different levels of privacy protection than are applicable in your country. When we do so, we transfer information in compliance with applicable international data protection laws. To protect your rights, we store and transfer your personal information in compliance with applicable legal requirements to regions countries where: (i) an adequate level of protection for personal information is provided; (ii) the transfer of personal information is governed by instruments such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, codes of conduct, or certification mechanisms; and/or (iii) other transfer mechanisms provided by applicable data protection and data security laws are utilized.

    If applicable laws and regulations of certain jurisdictions require us to provide you with further notices and obtain your separate consent for the cross-border data transfer, we will further provide such notices and obtain your separate consent.

    We also take steps to protect personal information in the country in which it is stored or to which it is transferred. We have procedures and controls to help ensure the protection of personal information. Your personal information may also be processed by staff working for us or for our vendors or suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the provision of support services. By submitting your personal information, you consent to any such transfers, storage or other processing of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Statement.

    It is important to note that some or all of your personal information provided to third party service providers may be held by them in countries other than your own. You acknowledge and understand that your personal information will be subject to the applicable laws of each such jurisdiction, which may not provide for the same protection as your country of residence.

    We will not retain your personal information longer than is necessary to honor your choices, fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.

    We appreciate your trust in sharing your personal information with us, and we are committed to taking reasonable measures to protect it. We utilize a combination of security technologies, procedures and organizational measures that are generally accepted in the industry to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

    By way of example, access to your personal information is restricted to employees, contractors and agents of MediaTek or its subsidiaries who need to access such data to perform their assigned job duties. We may also store your personal information on limited-access computer systems which are located in controlled facilities.

    Despite our efforts to protect your personal information, there is an inherent risk of encountering an unexpected security breach in any modern day computing environment. In the event of a security breach, if our investigations indicate that there could be significant harm to you as a result of such unauthorized access or disclosure of your personal information, we will promptly notify you and the proper authorities if required by law. We also encourage you to take precautions to protect your personal information when you are online. Create strong passwords by using a combination of letters and numbers, change passwords often, and use a secure browser.

    We may link to, or otherwise make available via the MediaTek Services, third-party services such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, and YouTube, etc. which are outside of our control and are not covered by our statements in this privacy statement. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such third-party services, including without limitation social media platforms and their plug-ins that may be on MediaTek Services. If you have questions about how these third parties collect, use and share your information, you should review their policies or contact them directly. By allowing a link to a third-party service, or otherwise allowing association with a MediaTek Service, we are not in any way endorsing, promoting or representing the quality of that service or taking responsibility for its practices.

    This privacy statement may be amended from time to time.

    If we decide to change our privacy statement, we will post the revised statement on this page. The revised privacy statement will supersede and replace any previous privacy statements effective as of the date on which the revised statement is posted. Your continued use of the MediaTek Services after such change represents and confirms your consent and agreement to any such changes.

    Depending on the laws in your jurisdictions, you may be entitled to different data subject rights. You have the right to update and correct the personal information on your account. You also have the right to know, access and obtain a copy of the personal information we have collected about you, to request restriction of the processing of that personal information, or to request that we delete that information. Where allowed by applicable law, there may be an administrative charge for supply of copies of data. You have the right to object to our continued processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to data portability to the extent permitted by applicable law.

    To the extent we are processing your personal information based on consent, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time, except as otherwise provided by laws. You may have the right to contest or appeal our decision with respect to your exercise of a privacy right. In addition, you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of your privacy rights.

    To the extent we use automated means to send you targeted push or marketing messages, we will provide you with a method to refuse such targeted messages. If we use automated means to make any decisions that may have major impact on your rights and interests, you may have the right to request us to provide you with an explanation if we are required to do so under applicable laws and regulations. We may also provide you with an opt-out method, where required under applicable laws and regulations, if the decision is made solely based on automated means and such a decision may have major impact on your rights and interests.

    If you have a complaint about the way in which MediaTek uses your personal information, you have the right to complain to the applicable data protection authority in the country of your residence.     MediaTek also complies with specific requirements stipulated by PIPL (¡°Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China¡±) and other relevant Chinese rules and regulations. This China Chapter applies to MediaTek¡¯s processing of personal information of natural persons within the territory of Chinese mainland according to PIPL and personal information processing activities conducted by subsidiaries of MediaTek within the territory of Chinese mainland. We mainly explain on some special matters prescribed under PIPL in this China Chapter. For matters not mentioned in this China Chapter, contents in other part of the Privacy Policy shall apply.
